Audiologists Making a Difference

Calling All Audiologists!

Sertoma, Inc. and Hearing Charities of America (HCOA) invite you to participate in the Hearing Aid Project (HAP), a national assistance program that provides refurbished hearing aids to those who cannot afford them. We have a donation, repair, and cleaning process that enables HAP to offer these hearing aids at no cost to audiologists or applicants.

After we identify a person of need within your community, we partner with an audiologist like you to perform the fitting. We have plenty of refurbished hearings aids—and plenty of recipients. But we’re in need of audiologists to help one or more patient(s) in your community each year.

Benefits:

  • Refer your low-income patients to the program at any time
  • Display participation badge on your website to exhibit philanthropic engagement with your community
  • Make your own schedule – help one patient, five patients, or ten patients each year
  • Create a permanent footprint by inspiring, educating, and engaging your community

Features:

  • Refurbished hearing aids are no more than two years old
  • All hearing aids come with a 1 year malfunction warranty
  • Cleaning tools, drying kits, batteries, and chargers (when applicable) are provided for each hearing aid recipient
  • Inventory includes Starkey, Oticon, Widex, Phonak, ReSound, and Siemens (subject to change)

The experience and information required for your participation are as follows:

  • Confirmation of (minimum) 2 years clinical experience, in the form of a current CV or resume
  • Copy of your audiology license (and hearing aid license if your state requires it)
  • Copy of your certificate of medical malpractice/liability insurance coverage
  • Signed mutual partnership agreement form

Due to the low-income status of our recipients, we ask audiologists to provide clinical services pro-bono. We understand your time and resources are valuable, and you may choose to limit the number of patients seen or ask about our stipend availability. Hearing Instrument Specialists and audiology students are able to fit approved applicants with hearing aids if they are covered by an audiologist’s malpractice insurance.

We appreciate your consideration of support for the Hearing Aid Project and the people we serve. Please complete the form below and we will contact you in 1-2 business days with our mutual partnership agreement. You can upload the requested documents below, fax them to 816-333-4320, or email them to info@hearingcharities.org along with any questions you have regarding the program or your participation.
